Omaha Hi Lo Tournaments

It is already no news at all that Omaha Hi/Lo poker is gaining more and more popularity by the minute. Before you rush to the table to throw in your chips, be aware of the variety of tournaments that there are so as to know what you can choose from and which of them are actually able to meet your requirements. Do not get confused in different types of tournaments, it is not that bad once you pay a little closer attention to it.

Sit & Go vs Scheduled
The first type to be considered here is Sit & Go tournaments, as opposed to the Scheduled ones. Now, Sit & Go tourney are generally single table or sometimes two-table tournaments that one can participate in any time 24/7. They are not scheduled and start whenever all the seats at the table are taken. You do not have to subscribe for these or be scared to miss one, if you came in the wrong time. Nothing of the kind. They are always there.
Conversely, scheduled tourneys are mainly multitable and have their own fixed time and date, which you can find out in your poker room lobby. In order to take part in one, you need to subscribe to it in advance and come back right on time.

Freerolls
Another type of tournaments to add up to the variety offered are the freerolls. This is a practically irresistible type, where you can play absolutely for free. There is no buy-in or entry free, but still you can get some real cash, well, if you’re the lucky winner. However, please mind that some poker rooms are scared of server overload and may, therefore, limit the number of the players taking part in freerolls to let’s say 1,000 in peak hours.

Rebuys vs Shootouts
What you may be really interested in is the distinction between rebuys and shootouts. In case with the rebuys, the players who have already lost all their chips, or ‘busted’ so to speak, get a chance to buy more chips and go on with the game. In some cases all the players are allowed to rebuy, in others only the busted ones. Anyways, that seems to be quite a nice feature to make use of.

Satellites
Satellite tournaments are still another type to be mentioned. These are steps on your way to success. What I mean is that if you win a satellite, you get the right to participate in a higher-level tournament.

I hope that did clarify the situation a little bit. Anyway, you can get more information on each particular tournament in the lobby.
Good luck and see you at an Omaha Hi/Lo table.
